At Mediahuis Aachen we offer two apprenticeship programmes which will prepare you to set foot into the media business or the business of event organisation. The apprenticeship programmes vary from 2,5 - 3 years in training in which you will have theoretical courses and practical work to do.
During your training as a media clerk (m/f/d), you will pass through all the commercial departments in our company and gain a comprehensive insight into the marketing and sales of our daily newspaper. You will also familiarise yourself with the areas of finance, human resources and logistics in order to understand the interaction of all departments and processes in a modern media company.
You will receive the theoretical input for your training at the Joseph-DuMont vocational college in Cologne, which you will attend two days a week. The curriculum includes publishing marketing and media management, management and control, economic and social processes and German.
Media affinity and strong communication skills: The most important thing is that you are interested in media, enjoy working with people and have strong communication skills and a willingness to communicate.
Flexibility and independence: You enjoy getting involved in new situations and tasks and solving them independently.
School and experience: Ideally, you have your (technical) A-levels or a qualified intermediate school-leaving certificate in your pocket and have good grades, especially in German, maths and English. You may also have already completed an internship or two, been involved in voluntary work or gained experience in a part-time job.
Varied training: Every three to six months, you will gain an insight into a new department and become a true media specialist. You will be part of the team from day one and will be able to take on independent tasks and projects.
Personal support: At the start of your training, a trainee buddy will help you find your feet. There is a contact person in each department who will look after you during your assignment and your trainer from the HR department will always have an open ear for you.
Modern working conditions: We provide you with everything you need to work in our state-of-the-art open office on the Medienhaus campus. You can reach us thanks to good public transport connections. If you are travelling by car, there is also free parking available.
Cool benefits: We subsidise your travel costs to the vocational school and your Germany ticket. You benefit from various discounts via the ‘Corporate Benefits’ platform and, in addition to discounted food in our canteen, there is also free water, coffee and fruit. Your personal development will be supported by further training and our digital learning platform.
