The construction of the new Aachen Media Center is perfectly on schedule. Accordingly, the topping-out ceremony was celebrated in a small, socially distanced gathering, in keeping with current regulations. Foreman Markus Weber of the Hans Lamers construction company delivered the traditional topping-out speech to mark the completion of the building's shell. Andreas Müller, Managing Director of the Aachen Media Center and the Aachen Publishing Company, conveyed the thanks of the client, the Aachen Publishing Company, in his address.

He described the new building for the group of companies, with its emerging media center campus on the company premises on Dresdener Straße, as "a sign of an optimistic and clearly defined step into the future." The aim, he said, is to fully meet the technical and structural requirements of a modern media center. In this way, Müller continued the path already embarked upon for some time into the digital future of regional media.

During the small ceremony, which was attended by the architects from SSP, the Bochum-based planning office responsible for the overall project, and representatives from the Aachen publishing company, as well as the construction firms, the first glimpses of the new media center were offered. Architect Tilo Pfeiffer emphasized that the building is scheduled to be occupied in spring 2022. The new media center is located directly in front of the current media center building; large sections of the old building will be demolished after the move.
